In June 2018, I worked with The Pickup Music Project to add reactive lighting to their Player Fence installation. This involved the addition of addressable LED strips to the 60+ musical chimes the group had assembled as an homage to a former public art piece by Paul Matisse. The lighting was programmed to flash in sync with an automated solenoid system as it played the chimes. Colors were mapped to tones using a system that corresponded to tablet-based software enabling audience participation. The microcontroller firmware is open source and available on Github.

The piece has been installed at Eaux Claires, Newport Folk Festival, and the Boston Maker Faire. Bryce Dessner composed original music for the instrument, which he performed at Eaux Claires in July - see the video by Justin Albaniel below.
